Take a day trip to nearby Nishabur, where the magnificent tomb of Omar Khayyam (1048 AD —1131 AD) awaits you. Khayyam is not only remembered as the poet of the Rubaiyat, but also as a mathematician, philosopher, astronomer and physician. In Nishabur, the famous Sufi mystic poet, Attar, is also buried.
Spend a morning or afternoon in the majestic resting place of the revered Persian poet, Hakīm Abu'l-Qāsim Ferdowsi Toosi, (940–1020 A.D.). Ferdowsi is the author of the great epic poem the Shāhnāmeh or Book of Kings.
